This document is a catalog of planets for SAGA adventures. Almost all of them are planets of the Celesti Sectior and are shown on the Celesti Sector Map. If a planet is not listed in Kambiz's Almanac of Conjunctions, we indicate as much in the description of the planet. The description that accompanies each planetary entry includes any and all notes we have had time to enter, including details of travels by player characters on those planets, links to adventure diaries, and maps. Following the description of each planet, we list the conjunctions that visit the planets. Conjunctions are created by pairs of inter-stellar creatures called Celesti. We describe the Celesti and conjunctions in detail in Celesti. We describe the management of the planets by the gods in Open Worlds. We find the best routes between planets with our KAC Tool, which is a TclTk script we can run with the Linux or Unix command "wish KAC.tcl".


Each planet has a number of attributes, and each planetary listing presents these attributes in a fixed format so that a computer program can extract them easily. Take a look at the attribute list for Clarus. Clarus is the presumed home planet for adventurers in a game of SAGA, and it's attributes are those we presume in documents like The Rules of Magic. The attributes we list are those given by Kambiz's Almanac of Conjunctions, 2475 AE edition.

We begin the list of attributes with a list of given names for the planet. We give the unique two-letter code that will be used to identify the planet in computer programs, to name the conjunctions visiting the planet, and for marking the planet on interstellar maps. Most of the planets here listed have never been visited by adventurers, and have names we assigned simply as place-holders. These have incomplete lists of attributes. When the value of an attribute is unspecified, we replace its value with "TBD" for "to be decided".

The day of a planet is the time it takes the planet to complete one full rotation about its axis. Instead of "day" we can also say period of rotation, or just rotation, if we want to distinguish the entire day from day-time and night-time. The Claran day is the standard day we use to express lengths of time. We indicate its duration with Cdy to indicate the length of the day on other planets. Time of day on all planets is divided into twenty-four hours of sixty minutes each, so that the length of one second on another planet is in proportion to the length of its day in Claran days. If a planet's rotation is equal to the length of its year, so that one side of the planet always faces the sun, then the duration of the day is infinite, as in the case of Twilight. Because of the possibility of an infinite day length on a planet, we give the length of the year of the planet in Claran days, and leave it to the reader to calculate the length of the year in local days. Instead of giving an infinite value for the length of the day, we replace the length of the day with the length of the year, which is consistent with the length of the day being the period of rotation of the planet, and permits us to use the day length to generate a local calendar in units of years.

Most nations on Clarus, including Ursia, use the "Gregorian Calendar", in which January 1st of year zero marks the first winter solstice after the founding of the nation of Endromis. The calendar does a good job of keeping the solstice on the same day of the year. The Claran year is of length 365.2425, exactly the length of Earth's year. This allows us to manipulate dates written in the day, month, year format of the Gregorian calander using standard Earth calendar routines. We can deduce the day of the week on Clarus from the Gregorian date using these routines, which would otherwise be complicated.

When it comes to calculating when conjunctions will occur, the easiest thing to do is add the period of the conjunction, which we express in days, to a previous occurance of the conjunction, which we should also express in days since some starting date. In the Almanac, the Clarus Calendar begins with the first day of the year in which the Almanac is published. In the notes below, we set day zero of the Clarus Calendar at January 1st 2475, time 00:00:00. A full Clarus Date and Time takes the form of a day number followed by hours minutes and seconds, as in 100:12:00:00 for 12 pm on day one hundred.

Each planet has its own calendar measured in the local planetary days. The local days are divided into their own hours, minutes, and seconds just as are Claran days, so that the local hours, minutes and seconds have a duration that is in proportion to the duration of the planetary day. For every planet we give the Clarus Date and Time that corresponds to time zero at longitude zero of a day upon which a recent northern-hemisphere winter solstice occurred. This is day zero and time zero of the planetary calendar. When the planetary day is a significant fraction of its year, this system for specifying the time of the solstice is imperfect because it does not tell us exactly when the solstice occurred. In the cases where the planet's day is infinite, because one side of the planet always faces its sun, our system fails completely, and instead we give the exact Clarus Date and Time of the solstice, and measure the planetary calendar in units of Claran Days.

In the section listing conjunctions, for every conjunction we give the Clarus Date of the mid-point of an occurance of the conjunction. In the Almanac, all these dates would be negative, because they would correspond to observed occurances before the date of publication. But our dates can be positive or negative, because we use the dates a conjunction first appeared in the game. We also give the latitude and longitude of each conjunction on each of the planets it connects, and its longevity.

The gravitational attraction of a planet, g, is given in m/s2 on the surface of the planet. We give the radius, r, in km also. We note that r is related to g by the average density, ρ, of the planet by rgρ. The constant of proportionality is 0.28 when ρ is in tonnes per cubic meter and r is in millions of meters. For Clarus we have g = 10 m/s/s, r = 6500 kms, and ρ = 5500 kg/m3. Magical planets contain mithril, which is always accompanied by iron, and their average densities are similar to that of Clarus, although there are exceptions. For most planets we have r = 0.65 g where g is in m/s2 and r is in millions of meters.

The radius of the planet is important because it allows us to calculate the shortest distance between two points on the planet that are given by longitude and latitude. When we specify the location of a conjunction, we do so in terms of latitude and longitute. On each planet, we presume there is a landmark of some significance somewhere along the 0° longitude line. On a planet with no rotation, or no day, we presume there has been some determination of where the equator will be presumed to lie, and so the poles as well.

We give the maeon wind strength, W, in Yardley. The maeon repulsion constant, R, is given in N/μg. The maeon repulsion constant, R, is approximately proportional to the maeon wind strength. Using Clarus as a reference, R = kW, where k = 10 N/Yμg. This relation will obtain the repulsion constant of any planet to within ±10%. The attraction constant of any planet is 1000× its repulsion constant. If R is 10 N/μg of conjured matter, the attraction constant is 10 kN/μg of spirit matter.

For planets in the Celesti Sector, we give the location of the planet's solar system with respect to Clarus in units of light years. Each location consists of three coordinates, x, y, and z as defined in the Celesti Sector Map.

The axis tilt of the planet is the angle between its axis of rotation and a perpendicular to its orbital plane. To illustrate the effect of axis tilt upon the climate of a planet, suppose we have planet with a day of length 1 Cdy and a year of length 400 Cdy. A tilt 0° means the planet will have no seasons, but its poles will be very much colder than its equator. The ratio of polar to equatorial solar heating is 0%. A tilt of 90° means the planet will have four extreme seasons. In the winter, there is no day. In spring and autumn, there is light for half the day. In summer, there is no night. Over the course of the year, the poles get 160% of the equatorial heat. At a tilt of 22.5°, the poles get 40% of equatorial heat, at 45° they get 60% and at 60° they get 110%. The ratio of the strength of the summer sun at mid-day to the strength of the winter sun at mid-day at latitude θ when axis tilt is α is given by the ratio cos(θ − α)/cos(θ + α).

We list the known moons of each planet in the line beginning with the keyword "Moons:". Each moon has a month in Claran days during which it moves through all its phases, and a Claran day and hour upon which the moon was new. Thus "52.3 33:13" represents a moon that orbits the planet every 52.3 Claran days, and which was new (between the planet and its sun) on Claran day 33, hour 13.

Planetary Map

The map below shows the planets of the Celesti Sector projected onto a two-dimensional plane. Open worlds are green, free worlds are orange, Olympia is blue, and worlds with no known conjunctions remaining to other planets are purple. When three planets are shown touching one another, they are in orbit around the same sun. They can be moons orbiting around the same giant, uninhabited planet.

The bioformed worlds of the Celesti Sector are arranged in an approximate arc, with the oldest planets at the end containing Domus, and the youngest at the end containing Sedomundus. The Free Worlds and Olympia are at the mid-point of the arc. The plane of the map passes through Clarus, and is oriented so as to minimize the average distance from the planets to the plane. The x-y plane spans almost one hundred light years, but almost all planets are within ten light years of the plane. Thus we are able to represent the relative locations of the planets rather well with a two-dimensional map.

Bragos is an Open World. It has one bright star in its northern sky and three small moons. The planet is owned by Bakkus, who manages its population by allowing it to swell after the census, and after ninety years of prosperity, orchestrating its collapse through war and plague. He himself spends a significant amount of his time in the small nation called Inebria. Here he throws a masked ball every seven Bragos years that is attended by ten thousand people, including many of the gods, and celebrities from all over the sector.

Clarus is a Free World. The name Clarus means "distinct" in Latin. Clause Seven of the Free World Declaration divided Clarus into 1,000 temple plots each roughly 100 km square, although their sizes and shapes vary with the local terrain. Temple plots may be owned only by individual gods. That god is allowed to appear in person within 30 m of a chosen temple point in his plot. The location of this point must be declared in the Olympian Public Record. Each temple plot has associated with it a number of population blocks, each of which represents permission, under Olympian Law, for the a thousand humans to live within the temple plot. Every ten years, the Olympian Censor will estimate the population of each temple plot. The plot owner must pay an over-count fine for each person living in the plot over and above the number permitted by his population blocks. The over-count fines have varied over the centuries, but in they twenty-fifth century the fine is $1000 per person per year until the next census. If a god had ten blocks associated with his temple plot and twelve thousand people living there, he would have to pay two million dollars a year for the ten years between one census and the next. If he had only nine thousand people living there, he would do well to sell or transfer one of his population blocks because this plot does not need the block. In the twenty-fifth century, Claran population blocks sell for around ten million Olympian dollars.

The number of population blocks available on Clarus is limited to one hundred thousand, so the total population must be one hundred million or less to avoid over-count fines. It was only in the twenty-fourth century that Clarus achieved its maximum population, because of the Dark Ages. During the Dark Ages, Olympia introduced the Once Percent of Lifetime Summoning Rule, which modified Clause Four of the Free World Declaration to allow pantheons and spirit agencies to serve the population of Clarus. In particular, it allowed divine medicines to be supplied to Clarus, which in the long run greatly increased the influence of churches in civilized nations. Hellspawn, even if born and raised on Clarus, are not considered citizens. Therefore they are not free to move through conjunctions to Open Worlds, but they may be summoned to Clarus under the provisions of the One Percent of Lifetime Summoning Rule. In modern times, the Gods control the population of Clarus by means of reversible sterilization administered to woman when they reach puberty. The Gods charge money for the reversal of this sterilization, or allow their clerics to pick those who ill be permitted to have children, and so limit the number of children families can have.

Comitor is a Free World. It has no moon, and a marvelous night sky in which the milky way is a bright swath of pink and green. Its year is four times longer than that of Clarus, but its day is almost exactly the same. The tilt of its axis is 35°. The great length of the year and the tilt of the axis both conspire to give Comitor seasons are both long and deep. Comitor means "accompany" in Latin. Clause Eight of the Free World Declaration divided Comitor into plots, which were distributed among the gods in the same way as was done on Clarus. On Comitor a god is permitted to roam and act freely within the borders of her plot. Because of the restrictions on imports to Comitor, pantheons and spirit agencies cannot serve the world's inhabitants, and it is not possible to restrict the planet's population by administration of sterilization as it is on Clarus. Nevertheless, Comitor is subject to population blocks in the same way as Clarus, with a total of fifty thousand blocks for the entire planet. The Gods control population with plague, war, religious taboos against having children, and by encouraging the use of naturally-occurring contraceptive drugs. The population of the planet reached forty million in the tenth century AE, and has varied between thirty and sixty million since that time. The peak of sixty million occurred in the eighteenth century AE, and led to the Dark Age of Comitor, in which the Gods used plague and war to drop the population below thirty million in the space of fifty years.

Draxius is an Open World managed by the Athena Corporation, a pantheon owned soley by the Godess Athena. Draxius's powerful maeon wind has attracted many conjunctions, and yet its compratively isolated location means these conjunctions link the planet to many neighbors that are far away. The city of Pentaway is served by five conjunctions within ten kilometers of the city. These are CSDS1, which connects to the mountains of Siam, CSDS2, which opens near Susa, DSVR2 to Vagor, DSFS1 to Feras, and DSGA2 to Gracia. This last conjunction is adjacent to CSGA1, which opens every 117 Cdy to Jamchelk.

Because of its long year, the seasons are extreme and deep on Draxius. Its nights are dark, there being no moon and no particularly bright stars. No public summoning is permitted, although Athena's clerics summon healing for her people. Near Pentaway there is an Oracle of the Dragons, which Athena tolerates.

Domus is an isolated world. Domus is the name of the planet, an island, and a city. Domus the city rests between two slopes of the snow-capped mountain that makes up Domus the island. Domus the island is roughly two hundred kilometers in diameter, and is the largest habitable area of land on Domus the planet. There are many other islands, but none of those that have been discovered so far are more than twenty kilometers across, and most of them are so small they have no fresh water. Domus the planet is fifty light years from Olympia and has no conjunction with any other planet.

Domus was first discovered some time in the third century after the founding of Endromis. The island of Domus was visited by a single Celesti. Some time around the year 1500 AE, the Celesti failed to appear. Domus was now connected with the rest of the Celesti Sector only by those bridges that had been brought to the planet through the conjunction. Two hundred years later, the first daemon arrived at Domus, bringing fresh bridges with time shifts of roughly one century with respect to the previously-existing bridges. Other daemons arrived bringing bridges in the following centuries. Olympia attempted to force Domus to destroy all bridges that did not share the same time shift, but the Domus residents refused.

In roughly 1900 AE, according to one of the few original standard-time bridges on the planet, the democratically-elected governing body on Domus declared Year Zero of their calendar, and at the same time declared their independence from Olympia. In response, Olympia made several attempts to invade the island and overthrow the government, but all such efforts were thwarted. In most cases, the bridges the Olympians wanted to use to gate their soldiers to the planet were destroyed by spies before they could be used. In one case, half of an army arrived on the island before the gate was destroyed, leaving the army stranded. The soldiers eventually became citizens themselves. The daemons refused to allow Olympia to use bridges transported by them through space, so when the standard-time bridges owned by the Olympians were destroyed, there was no other way for the Olympians to reach Domus.

Many citizens of Domus at that time, at at all times since then, were time-travelers, and it is hard to surprise a time traveler. Olympia gave up trying to correct the wayward planet. As a result, Domus is now a haven for daemons, who make their own homes on isolated, uninhabitable islands whose location is unknown to anyone apart from themselves. Most of its population is sapien. The gods do not provide health care on Domus, so Domus citizens travel to other planets if they need medicine that can be obtained only from the gods. But at the same time, they have many scientists working on the study of medicine, so that the quality of care they can provide to their citizens without divine intervention is the best in the sector.

The climate of Domus is temperate. The city looks West, towards the setting sun. A river flows between the shoulders of the mountain and through the city, cascading through its Eastern gates, and meandering out of its Western gates. The seven-meter high wall of the city is made of stone blocks, each cut to its own shape, and resting without mortar upon those beneath it. The wall runs in a rough circle, one kilometer across. Forty thousand people live permanently in within the walls, accompanied by an average of ten thousand travelers at any one time. There are three hundred registered hotels, two hundred restaurants, one hundred bars, twenty museums, thirty theaters, twenty music-halls, ten gymnasiums, five market squares, six parks, forty fountains, and twenty public bath houses. There are fifty temples staffed by clerics. The clerics are called upon frequently for their services as healers, but rarely as providers of spiritual guidance. Domus is the home to its own philosophy: Zen.

To be a master of Zen is to allow your emotions to be governed only by the present. The zen master does not brood upon the past, or become anxious about the future. Nevertheless, he prepares for action and learns from his lessons. He does not anticipate the outcome of a confrontation, but concentrates on performing as best he can during the confrontation. Zen is popular in Domus because it allows you to overcome the anxiety and confusion that arises from knowing your destiny as a result of time travelling. And everyone who goes to Domus has traveled in time. For the last thousand years, the planet has been accessible only through gates brought by daemons at light-speed between the worlds. These gates all have time shifts of several decades to several centuries. Hundreds of gates to other worlds are set in the mountain walls to the east of the city. These are tended by gatekeepers paid by the daemons or divine agencies that maintain the gates. The gatekeepers keep stairs leading to the gates clear of obstruction, tend to plants and gardens, and watch for travelers, who they will help, or to whom they will relay messages.

Around the year fifty AI (fifty Domas years after independence, two hundred Claran years), the Domans came to realize that a new conjunction would be discovered on a distant volcanic island some time around 260 AI (one thousand Claran years after independence). Very soon after the arrival of this new conjunction, Olympian would invate the planet using bridges its agents brought to Domus through the new conjunction. Instead of making an effort to destroy the conjunction and stop the invasion, which would be doomed to fail, and also quite against the Zen philosophy of the planet, Domus citizens avoided losing their independence simply by traveling back to earlier times in their history, where they were able to relate their story to their ancestors, or by moving to other planets. The gating agencies and daemons, with centuries of advance warning, were able to move all their operations to new locations in Domus's past, or to other worlds, long before the Olympian army arrived.

The population of Domus is roughly fifty thousand, and half of them went back into their own past in Domus Year 260. Most of these traveled back at least a lifetime into the past, so as to avoid meeting themselves. Between the year 50 and 200, roughly a hundred people a year would arrive from the future. Each Domus year is roughly four Claran years, so a lifetime is 20 years. Among the population of fifty thousand in the year 100, roughly two thousand were from the future of Domus. Thus most Domus citizens are their own descendants and their own ancestors. It is considered incestuous on Domus to become your own grandparent, let alone your own parent or sibling, and not everyone welcomes knowledge of their own fate, so genealogy is an unfashionable study on Domus, and very few records of births and deaths are kept. Voting is done by a show of hands, and whoever is an adult sapien can show up to vote.

Fantasia is an open world on the extreme bottom-right of our map. Its nearest neighbor is ten light years away, and after that, twenty light years. Its maeon wind is only 0.1 Y. Its night sky has one moon that subtends 5 mrad on the planet, and two bright stars, as well as six visible planets. It is frequented by only two conjunctions. The FAYO1 conjunction defines zero longitude and opens every 72 Cdy. Only twenty kilometers away is FAGE1, which spans the entire height of our map, conneting Fantasia to Glare every 321 Cdy.

Fantasia is a game-world of the gods. It was the setting for the Almadia adventure played by Quayam, Gristel, and Thristen at a standard time 175 years in their future. The planet is owned by the Herkulean Pantheon, whose members play games against one another with human nations as the pieces in the game. Each game lasts for at least a decade, and usually several centuries. At the time of the Almadia adventure, there are sapiens, dwarves, and elves living on the planet. The two conjunctions are well-guarded, so Olympia has granted permission for all manner of androgynous creatures to be added to the planet for use in the games. In addition to the conjunctions, there are gates and summoning bridges to Olympia and unofficial gates to Domus. Through these latter gates heroes can be introduced into the games at times, subject to the rules agreed upon by the players.

Feras is a Free World, and the planet upon which The Captive and the Clowns takes place. Because its axis tilt is only 10°, its seasons are mild compared to Clarus, but the difference in the climate of its poles and equator is greater. The equator of Feras is not quite as hot as the equator on Clarus, and is well-populated. The poles are much colder than those of Clarus. Feras has three moons, one very close, orbiting in eight local days, and generating tides of up to ten meters, and the others farther away orbiting in eighty and ninety local days. The close moon has apparent diameter four times that of Clarus's moon. It sheds enough light when full to read small print and causes tides of ten meters in ocean harbors. Feras means "wild" in Latin. Clause Nine of the Free World Declaration give gods complete freedom to do as they please upon Feras. No effort is made there to enforce laws of non-violence between gods, although it has come to be taboo for gods to harm each other there. Because of the restrictions upon imports to Feras, pantheons and spirit agencies cannot serve the world's inhabitants. There are no population blocks. Feras is one of only two planets in the Celesti Sector where the population is not limited by any Olympian Law. The population of Feras in the twenty-fifth century AE is around two hundred and fifty million.

Fyloxenos's maeon wind is weak, but its gravity is strong. Two thirds of the planet is ocean. Its climate is cooler than that of Clarus and its seasons are shorter. The equator is temperate, the poles are covered with ice. The planet is served by twenty-four conjunctions and six of these occur within a few hundred kilometers of one another in the center of a large continents at latitude 16°N. At this location in winter, the plains are covered with snow and the mountains are impassable. In the summer, the plains are covered with lush grass and the mountain valleys are bright with flowers. Fyloxenos is owned by the Braddawash Corporation. Shares of this corporation are traded on Olympia, so that its ownership is spread among both gods and elves. The corporation provides free health care to the population. Births are restricted.

Glare is a remote open world with only five known conjunction. It is owned exclusively by the god Cesarian, and is mentioned in the Armageddon adventure notes. Cesarian is linked directly to his many clerics, and to Olympia, by space bridges. He tunes the bridges himself. He has a large, well-watered estate within a few hundred kilometers of two of the five conjunctions. There he is attended by demons, elves, and sapien men. He receives food and money from his clerics. He buys whatever else he needs from Olympia. He travels around Glare in his flier, and even through conjunctions to other worlds if he pleases. (A flier is a machine powered by space bridge thrusters.) Cesarian is not the only inhabitant of Glare, there are several other habitations of elves and other creatures, but not sapiens.

Gracia is an Open World. Its year is short and its axis tilt is slight. The planet has no discernable seasons. The equator is calm and tropical, with an average temperature of 30°C. The poles are uninhabitabl because they are so cold, with an average temperature of −70°C. Gracia is well-known to Claran travelers because of the CSGS1 conjunction that occurs every 117 to Jamchelk on Idonius. The gods that own Gracia are permissive towards travelers. Adventurers may gate to Graci with their wyverns, hippogriffs, horses, and weapons, from any planet in the sector, provided they pay the gating tax, and they swear to abide by Gracian law. The CSGS1 conjunction allows adventurers on Clarus to gate from any place on Clarus to Gracia, and then return to Clarus, arriving in Jamchelk. Gracian days are short. Its slight axis tilt is insufficient to give it seasons, so that its short year goes by without any affect upon the climate. The poles are covered with water and too cold to be habitable. The equatorial regions are mostly ocean, but there are numerous islands connected by sail boats. The islands are host to several dozen conjunctions. Because of the reliable shipping between the conjunctions, Gracia profits from a good deal of interplanetary trade. For travelers in a hurry to meet another conjunction, sleek catamarans pulled by small kraken can be taken, which cover 400 km in a standard day.

Heima is owned by the Nordic Pantheon. Most of the planet is covered with ocean. The largest land mass is 1000 km across, but there are many substantial islands scattered throughout the ocean. The highest mountains are 2000 m above sea level. The temperate latitudes experience harsh, freezing winters and long, mild, fertile summers. The equator experiences wet and dry seasons, but in the wet season, it often snows, and the highest equatorial mountains are hosts to glaciers. The poles are constantly, bitterly cold and covered with ice. The oceans are exceedingly bountiful. Whales and seals, introduced two thousand years ago, are plentiful. The planet itself is rich in metals, with iron ore in abundance, as well as ample forest for fuel. In 2457 AE, the planet was struck by an asteroid, which landed in the ocean, generating a tsunami that appears to have swamped all major land masses to an altitute of several hundred meters, and darkened the sky for several years. At least three out of four of Heima's sapien population perished in the tsunami. The Olympian Census records roughly one million survivors. Since the tsunami, the survivors have prospered and been joined by a substantial number of emigrants arriving through the planet's forty-eight conjunctions.

Hell is an isolated world classified as an Open World by Olypian Law. It is owned by the Princes of Hell. Its small axis tilt means it has no significant seasons, but the change in climate from the equator to the poles is extreme. The equator is hot, but not quite as hot as the equator of Clarus. The poles are fiercely cold, and inhabited only by creatures designed especially for the purpose. Hell is owned and operated by the Princes of Hell. The Princes of Hell are also known as The Devils. These nine gods worked together on Luma, the home of the Illuminati, in genetic engineering. They bought Hell as a venue for their war games. Four of them are now in poor mental health, and have given over control of their affairs to the remaining five. The five active princes are Lucifer, Beelzebub, Shiva, Thor, and Erebus. The Princes of Hell created the species known as hellspawn out of humans and animals, and many other monsters besides, both useful and disgraceful, to make up the armies they pitted against one another in their games. When several hundred thousand orc soldiers from one of Lucifer's armies broke through to the continent of Idonius on Clarus in the fifteenth century after the founding of Endromis, plague and war wiped out most of the human population of the continent.

Hell is notable for its lack of conjunctions to other planets in the Celesti Sector. When it was first discovered, it was visited by several conjunctions, but not nearly as many as its maeon wind would suggest. The planet is highly volcanic. Its surface is subject to frequent earthquakes and its sky is darkened every few decades by volcanic dust. The few original conjunctions have long since been driven away by the inhabitants of the planet, leaving it accessible only by gating. Because Hell has no conjunctions, Olympia gave permission to the Princes of Hell to develop new types of soldier on the planet, and pit armies of soldiers against one another. There have been a few escapes of hellspawn from Hell, most noteably to Clarus, but the war games on Hell continue.

A small open world with a strong maeon wind and fifty-nine known conjunctions. Half the planet is covered by ocean. Its gravity is half that of Clarus but its atmospheric pressure is 90 kPa (90% of Claran). Its long day encourages extreme cold at night and extreme heat during the day, but cloud cover generated by the oceans greatly reduces the afternoon heat and the cold at night. Its seasons are not as extreme as those of Clarus, but the contrast between the poles and the equator is greater. The equatorial region is is subject to near-constant rain during day and night. The poles are perpetually frozen and clear. At latitude 56°, longitude 18° lies the island of Tentabi, roughly circular and 200 km across. Tentabi is host to nine conjunctions, with a tenth on a smaller island to the north-west.

The north and center of the island are occupied by percipitous mountains with towering cliffs and deep valleys. The tallest peaks are 2500 m, with several conjunctions arising on ledges high on the mountain slopes. The south of the island is rolling hills covered with pine and redwood trees that reach a height of one hundred and twenty meters. These huge trees survive the snowy nights and hot, rainy days. A typical day on Tentabi begins with a clear sky and the temperature well below freezing. The mountains are covered with fresh snow and ice, and lowlands trees are shrouded with snow. By late morning, the snow has melted. On a good day, clouds will form and by noon it will be 35°C and pouring warm rain. On a bad day, the sky will remain clear until mid-afternoon. The temperature will reach 50°C with 90% humidity. By late afternoon, the clouds will bring relief and rain. Sometimes the clouds will clear over the island at sunset and the view of the setting sun over the ocean is spectacular and prolonged. On most days, the rain continues into the night, eventually turning to snow. By dawn the clouds have exhausted themselves, leaving a clear sky for another cold dawn.

Makrinos is an open world with a short day, a long year, and a weak maeon wind. It is served by only two conjunctions. Conjunction CSMS1 leads to Clarus, conjunction FXMS1 to Fyloxenos. The conjunctions are separated by only 130 km. Only ten percent of Makrinos is covered with water. The skies are almost always clear. The air is almost always dry. Fresh water is scarce. The planet surface cools quickly at night and warms quickly during the day, but the nights and days are short. The year is almost three times as long as a Claran year. Makrinos's seasons have more time to establish themselves, but the axis tilt is less than that of Clarus. In the region of the two conjunctions, at latitude −37°, the summer sun is 1.6 times warmer than the winter sun. At the same latitude on Clarus, the summer sun is 1.9 times warmer. One tenth of the surface is covered by six, separate salt-water seas. One tenth of the surface is habitable coastline and islands, where there is dew and occasional rain. The remaining eight tenths is desert with no surface water.

The entire planet is owned and managed by the Herkulean Pantheon. For a map of the region around the two conjunctions see here. For a thousand years, the city of Gebong in the mountains between the two conjunctions prospered, with a population of some fifty thousand sapiens living in splendid stone buildings they built themselves. They mined gems in the mountains about them. They quarried fine granite at a site near the city. The city was built around an oasis. Some time around 2100 AE, the oasis began to try up. A hundred years later, the city was deserted. There is no other source of water for a hundred kilometers in any direction. In 2300, the oasis had recovered enough to support a few hundred sapiens, who live among the ruins of the ancient city.

The largest populated nation on Makrinos is Aranash, an island in the Obit Sea north-west of the CSMS1 conjunction. The island is five hundred kilometers across and is almost entirely covered with mountains, with the exception of half a dozen plateaus and some coastal plains. The plateaus are ten or twenty kilometers across, and so placed amid the mountains and surrounded by the sea that they receive enough rain for forest to grow. In these valleys, surrounded by high peaks, there are streams, lakes, and water-falls. That is to say: the island is paradise when compared to the rest of Makrinos. The island is divided into a dozen sapien states, all of which are most often controlled by a single monarch. There are parts of the island, however, that the population views as cursed, and at times, perhaps every thirty or forty Makrinos years, the island is overrun by enemies that emerge from these cursed places, and who must be fought and defeated by the sapien inhabitants. At these times, however, some of the inhabitants of Aranash choose not to fight, but rather head for the CSMS1 or FXMS1 conjunctions in the hope of escaping to a more hospitable location. The monarch inevitably objects to such deserters, and the result is conflict in and around the two conjunctions in the years before The Darkness, as the citizens of Aranash call these periods of conflict.

Olympia is home planet of the gods. It is neither an Open World, which can be owned and controlled by a divine entity, nor a Free World, in which sapiens can live without obeying the laws of the gods. The gods do not want sapiens and hellspawn breeding upon Olympia. In order to ensure Olympia will be safe from over-population, all female sapiens must be sterilized if they are to live on Olympia. If not, they can spend no more than twenty-four hours on the planet. Hellspawn are present upon the planet for summoning to Clarus. Most of the administrative and manual work on Olympia is done by elves, but there are many male sapiens and neutered female sapiens as well. Elf women do not have to be neutered. Elves breed too slowly to be a threat to the gods. The official language of the gods is Latin, also known as the Language of Names, and is based upon the language of the Terran Roman Empire from which many sapien colonists were taken. Although Latin is the official language, most of the gods converse in Greek.

Sedomundus is owned by a consortium of Gods, which includes Achilles and Celeste. Its axis tilt and long year combine to give it seasons as extreme as those of Earth, but almost twice as long. Achillese lives here in a large graceful palace made of granite and glass. His land, which is over 1000 km across, is covered with the silent, alien forest and shrub left behind by the Former Celesti. Achillese rides his horses through the forest, swims in the streams with his companions, both spirit and mortal, throws huge parties every ten years or so, and plays all manner of games and sports in the grounds of his palace. One day he shall be able to hunt as well, for the forest in the south of his domain is slowly filling with insects, birds, fish, and game thanks to a conjunction which occurs there once every five Sedomundus years with Clarus. The conjunction has occurred twenty times already, and connects with a spot 100 km south of Gondiath on Endromis. At first, the conjunction was used only by criminals wishing to escape justice in Endromis, but for the past century the conjunction has been the center of a festival, where people go through for a week or two to walk, picnic, and wonder at the strange vegetation, or to collect the rare and valuable plants that can be found there. There are other spirits living on Sedomundus, but they are far away. Nearest is Celeste, who lives on a tropical island to the northwest. She has many demon and demigod companians.

Terminus is an Open World discovered in the 14th century AE. In 2478 AE Terminus was struck by a meteor. The maeon wind was destabilized for reasons not fully understood by the Gods, but subject to study by the wizards of Pakesh. The fluctuations in the maeon wind destroyed almost all the Olympian gates that existed on the planet. The cloud of dust thrown up by the meteor cast the entire planet into a year-long winter. Nine tenths of the sapien population of one million died during that year its aftermath. The weeks after the meteor strike were the setting for the QTG adventure Armageddon. Three years later, in 2481 AE, the sky was clear. The inhabitants refer to the meteor strike as The Cataclism. They have re-built their farm houses. The ten or twenty known conjunctions on the planet are still arriving. Some of the tens of thousands of people who escaped through these conjunctions are returning to their homes. Because of its low axis tilt, Terminus has mild seasons. Its climate tends to be dominated by geography rather than the time of year. Its equator is too hot for comfort, and its poles too cold. Most of the inhabitants live within latitude 35°-55°. The southern hemisphere has the greater land masses and accommodates three quarters of the population. Travel between the northern and southern hemispheres is rare because the tropics are so hot and suffer from long spells without wind to power ships. At the equator, however, there are places where alien fauna still grow in abundance, with several known and unique species identified during the original survey of the planet by the Gods.

Latitude zero is the location of the OATS1 conjunction. The planet is managed by a Planetary Coorporation of the Peace and Prosperity camp.

Twilight is an Open World. Twilight's axis of spin is 0 degrees and its rotation is locked to its revolution around its sun, so that the same half of the planet always faces towards the sun, and the other half faces away. There is no day or night, only an eternal twilight on the equator, which is the only habitable portion of the planet. The side facing the sun is far too hot, and the side facing away is far too cold, and dark besides.

The nation of Harmonia on Twilight was the setting for the QTG adventure Harmonia, and the empty lands between Harmonia and the nearest nation Nichta were the setting for Twilight Desert. In Nichta there is a conjunction to Omnivoria, but conjunctions are for the most part inaccessible on Twilight because they occur on either the hot or the frozen side of the planet.

Vagor is a Free World. The year is just over half a Clarus year in length. Seasons, aside from being short, are not severe. The tilt of the planet's axis is only a few degrees. The equator is too hot, with an average temperature of 40°, while the poles are too cold, at an average of −60°C. The habitable region of the planet is 10° to 60° latitude, ranging from very hot to very cold. Despite its short seasons, Vagor's climate is variable and violent. Hurricanes devastate its archapelegos and coasts, tornados occur in the larger continents, and its thunderstorms are spectacular and destructive. The violence of the weather comes in periods that the inhabitants of the planet call Violent Times, and are interspersed with Calm Times. The violent times can last for several years, and the calm times for several decades. The planet has no moon, but its night sky is illuminated brightly by three nearby stars, two visible from the southern, most populated, hemisphere, and one from the northern hemisphere. Each star is as bright as Clarus's full moon. The two southern stars are called Raptor and Tyrannus. Raptor rises as the sun sets at the end of the southern winter, and Tyrannus follows it four hours later. The northern star is called Calypso. It rises as the sun sets in the middle of the northern winter. Vagor means "wander" in Latin. According to Clause Ten of the Free World Declaration, there are no Temple Plots on Vagor. The gods may travel freely. But no intervention in the affairs of Vagor's citizens is allowed. The gods are not even allowed to reveal themselves as gods. The same applies to demigods, who take animal forms. Vagor is supposed to be like the original Terra in that the gods must go amongst its people incognito. Human spies and visiting gods help enforce this rule upon all gods and demigods who visit the world. Because of the restrictions upon imports to Vagor, pantheons and spirit agencies cannot serve the world's inhabitants. Vagor is one of two planets in the Celesti Sector with no limits to its population, but its limited fertile land area and erratic climate make it a harsh and unpredictable world. In the fifteenth century AE the population reached a hundred million, but a sudden drop in the average global temperature reduced the population to ten million by the twentieth century AE. Since then the climate has warmed, but fierce storms destroy crops and flood coasts. In the twenty-fifth century AE, the population has risen to fifty million.

Table of Conjunctions

Here we list conjunctions that join the planets of the Celesti Sector. By default, any conjunction listed is also listed in Kambiz's Almanac of Conjunctions, 2475 AE edition. If the listing comes from some other source, or is unknown to the Almanac, we say so in a description of the conjunction, which we can jump to by clicking on the conjunction name in the list. The identity code of a conjunction is a combination of the two-letter codes of the planets it connects. The codes are in alphabetical order, so that the first planet is the one whose two-letter code precedes the second. Following these four letters is a number distinguishing the conjunction from others between the same two planets. If the conjunction joins two points on the same planet, we give the planet code twice, then the number. The occurrence is the Clarus date of the mid-point of an occurrence of the conjunction. The period is the expected time between occurrences. The longevity is the likely duration of the conjunction. The longevity is split evenly about the occurrence date. The two locations of the conjunction we give by latitude and longitude on the first and second planets. The KAC program will load all the following conjunctions from this page when it starts up. The program will then find routes between planets, such as this route from Clarus to Fantasia using five conjunctions.

Descriptions of Conjunctions

There follow descriptions of the conjunctions, if any. When we mention time in days, months, and years, we are referring to Claran days and years. Dates are usually in the Gregorian calendar of Clarus.


Joins Bragos to Polaris every 5.3 years. On Bragos, the conjunction occurs in the caldera of a dormant volcano on Calashni Island. This island is the home of a tribe of sapiens who try to capture and rob anyone who passes through the conjunction in either direction, unless instructed by their god to allow the travelers to pass. On Polaris, the conjunction occurs at the tip of a cape, in a sheep field overlooking the ocean from the top of hundred-meter cliffs. The 21-APR-2481 occurance was used by QTG to travel from Bragos to Polaris. In order to get to the conjunction they ascended the volcano by balloon and fought their way through sixty Calashni warriors.


There are is only one conjunction in the Clarus Outlands, and it is the Clarus-Comitor conjunction CSCR1, 7-monthly, open 1 week, in heart of Kratanak Mountains, which connects the Outlands of the Kratanak Mountains with the tropical nation Kateshka on Comitor. The god of Kateshka, called Bolejnyet in Kateshka, but known as Radix on Olympia, owns the eleven plots of Kateshka and lives there ruling his people, as is permitted by the Olympian laws governing Comitor. Kateshka trades profitably with the orcs on Clarus. The conjunction is on a large plateau and it is thanks to trade through this conjunction that the working orcs of the central mountains can prosper. Dwarves mine the sides of the range, and own several passes, but the central outlands lie between the Ottoman Tunnel and the Broad Pass, and area about 80 km × 30 km, which is home to some 50,000 orcs and 100 black orcs. The central outlands are connected to the wilder Southern Kratanak Outlands by some enormous underground passages that go beneath the Broad Pass. These passages are known to the dwarves, but defended by the orcs. It is not clear if they constitute an invasion of the Homeland territory of the pass.


Joins Comitor and Terminus every twenty-eight months and remains open for over a month. The Comitor side occurs in the southern hemisphere. The Terminus side occurs in the southern hemisphere also, on Driver Island, which is several days sail from the nearest continent. The seas are rough between the mainland and the island. The 01-JAN-2478 occurance was used by QTG to evacuate most of their party from Terminus after the meteor strike of 2477. The sky was dark with dust and their ship was nearly wrecked getting to Driver Island. At the island they found thousands of people trying to flee Terminus, and the Comitor Watchers on both sides of the conjunction keeping people from passing through unless they possessed a Free World passport. On the Comitor side it was mid-autumn in the southern hemisphere. Half-way through the occurance, it was roughly mid-day on both planets.


A conjunction that joins two points on the same planet Clarus: Susa, Ursia with the Vale of Wortham, Weiland. The conjunction occurs every two years. For the months before and after, traffic along the desert road from Ursia to Weiland slows almost to a halt as merchants take their cargoes through the conjunction rather than across the desert. The Susa side appears on the Field of Conjunctions near the city. The Weiland side appears a few kilometers from the Meadow Inn, off the main road.


Joins a spot ten kilometers south-west of the Meadow Inn, Weiland, to a point near the equator on Doras, where the climate is temperate. Called the Rockwell conjunction, the 13-MAY-2477 occurance is featured in the HSW adventure The Prince of Diamantis. It occurs few hundred meters north of the road that goes past the Meadow Inn north into Weiland and west into Gripp. Within twenty kilometers there occur several other conjunctions, including CSRK2 to Rebok and CSCS1, the extraordinary conjunction to Susa, Ursia, another location on Clarus.


Joins Isikoss mainland to a cold, rainy spot in the northern hemisphere of Doras. The 10-MAR-2478 occurance was used by QTG to return to Clarus after the Armageddon adventure. The party took DROK1 from Overlook, and Cesarian picked them up in his flier and took them over Doras's cloudy surface to CSDR2


An infrequent conjunction: every four years, CSDS1 joins Pentaway, Draxius, to the mountains of Siam, Clarus. The 01-JUN-2481 occurance was used by QTG to return from Draxius after their long interplanetary journey through Twilight, Bragos, Polaris, Kayrif, and Draxius. On the Clarus side, travellers are served by the Pontick Guest House, with rooms commanding a view of Lake Tatonga.


An infrequent conjunction: every four years, CSDS2 joins Pentaway, Draxius, to the Field of Conjunctions outside Susa, Ursia on Clarus.


Also called the Jamsheed Conjunction, it occurs every fifteen months in the desert south of Pakesh, Ursia, Clarus. It connects to Solomon Island in the southern hemisphere of Feras. The 22-JAN-2476 occurance was used by QTG to travel to Feras in the Captive and the Clowns adventure. The adventure diary contains a detailed description of the conjunction and the city of tents that surrounds it. At the time of the 22-JAN-2476 occurance, it was mid-spring in Solomon Island.


Also called the Kenyan Conjunction, it occurs every six months and connects Nubia, on the continent of Leaena of Clarus, to the Green Mountains, near Foo-Yun in the southern hemisphere Feras. The conjunction is used by dwarves of the Green Mountains to transport their jade to Clarus, where it is picked up by merchants with hippogriffs, or purchased by local dealers. The 26-JUN-2486 occurance was used by QTG to return from Feras with their friend Richard Crockford and a cargo of jade, as described in the final chapter of The Captive and the Clowns.


This conjunction takes place every four years in the hills south of Calissa. It remains open for at least five weeks. The conjunction occurs in the borderlands along the western edge of Essex, the hobbit nation. The conjunction connects Clarus to the Yaldan Desert in the northern hemisphere of Feras. There are no conjunctions in the Western Outlands, but there are several that occur in the borderlands. This is one of them. It is heavily guarded by the Claran Watchers, whose job is to stop hellspawn from traveling along the borderlands and through to Feras. The nation of Essec itself is buffer between the orc nation Vaz and the conjunction. On occasion, a caravan of traders under heavy guard will approach the conjunction from the Endor, but this is rare. Travelers flying to the conjunction are likely to be harassed by black orcs on wyverns. The desert in Feras does not, in itself, offer much opportunity to trade, but the CSFS3 conjunction is synchronous with FSVR1 two hundred kilometers east across the desert, which connects to the peaceful and prosperous nation of Warwik on Vagor. The desert crossing is arduous because it is hard to find water, and because the local peole are warlkike and wish to extort money from caravans or pillage them. A well-supplied and well-defended caravan can cross the desert in a week, trade in Warwick for two weeks, and return to Clarus before the conjunction closes. At times when Warwick encouraged trade with Clarus through the conjunction, there was some traffic every four years across the desert. But in recent times, there has been very little. The 16-MAY-2479 occurance of this conjunction was used by QTG to get to Warwick for the debt-collecting adventure Marble.


An extraordinarily frequent conjunction, every 117 days or roughly four months, the conjunction opens for only four days. It connects an island on Gracia to Jamchelk, a city in the middle of a desert west of Sax on Clarus. Jamchelk is served by several conjunctions, but this is the most prominent because of its frequency and the liberal travel rules that exist on Gracia. Travelers can bring their wyverns, hippogriffs, and horses to Gracia, for example, either by conjunction or by gate, and so adventurers may come back to Clarus through CSGA1 by gating to Gracia from any place they find themselves in the Celesti Sector. The Almanac defines longitude zero on Gracia to be the location of this conjunction.


The Gebong Conjunction, as it is called on Clarus, once joined the multicultural nation of Mareo on Clarus to the prosperous desert city of Gebong on the remote planet Makrinos. The conjunction is infrequent, occuring every 2037 Claran days, but remains open for 78 days, and is near the only other conjunction that occurs on Makrinos, FXMS1 to Fyloxenos.


Joins a spot in the desert 100 km north of Pakesh, Clarus, with the southern hemisphere of Rebok. Its period is approximately one year, and each time it occurs there is a lottery in Pakesh arranged by the King of Harmonia on Twilight, with expensive tickets, and the winner and companions gate to Harmonia and return to Pakes via CSRK1. The 27-DEC-2479 occurance was the planned route of return for QTG after their visit to Harmonia in Harmonia.


Joins the Vale of Wortham, Clarus, at a spot near the Meadow Inn, to the side of the main road, with the southern hemisphere of Rebok. The 26-MAY-2479 occurrence was used by QTG to return to Clarus after they gated from Vagor to the Floating City on Overlook following the Marble adventure. They stayed a week in the Eagle Hotel, then gated to Rebok and passed immediately through the conjunction.


A conjunction that occurs only once every ten years. It joins the alien forests of Sedomundus with a spot one hundred kilometers south of Prolixus, the capital city of Endromis on Clarus. The 08-AUG-2474 occurance was the center of the Sedomndus Forever adventure, in which QTG went through in search of a lost child and confronted the god Achilllese. For the Almanac maps, this conjunction defines latitude zero on Sedomundus.


Joins Clarus and Tanilus every seven months, and is synchronous with OATS1. Occurs on Eldrich within a few kilometers of longitude zero on Clarus. The actual longitude zero location was the site of the Athena Conjunction that joined Olympia and Clarus until 1405 AE. On Tanilus, the conjunction defines longitude zero for the maps of the Almanac, and is a few kilometers from OATS1. The TSCS Inn serves adventurers traveling back through the CSTS1 conjunction to Clarus. The Tanilus location is close to the equator, where there is a hot season in spring, a wet season through summer and autumn, and a mild season in winter. The 13-SEP-2481 occurance was used by QTG on their return from Leaena: they gated to Tanilus, spent a day fishing in the large, brown river that flows past the conjunction, and then stepped through to Eldrich.


Joins Doras and Overlook every seven months, remaining open for ten days. The 06-MAR-2478 occurrance was used by QTG to travel from Overlook, where they had been staying on the Floating City, to Doras, where they met the god Cesarian in his flyer to make the journey accross Doras to the CSDR2 conjunction.


Every two Claran years, joins Pentaway on Draxius to a location on Feras.


A frequent conjunction: every five months it joins Pentaway on Draxius to an island on Gracia that is only three kilometers from the island that hosts the CSGA1 conjunction. This latter conjunction occurs every four months and leads to Jamchelk, Clarus.

Joins Draxius and Kayrif every three years. The Draxius location is in the southern hemisphere in Arnomore, a nation one hundred kilometers across and entirely surrounded by mountains that are exceedingly difficult to cross on foot. The conjunction appears in the foothills of the mountains on the north-west edge of the land, beyond the cultivated fields. Each occurrence of the conjunction is met by armored knights on horseback, and travelers are asked to surrender their clothes and food and are treated to a hot bath and a meal. This procedure is to ensure that no sickness is brought into Arnomore, which is hidden and isolated from the rest of Draxius by its mountains. The 08-DEC-2480 occurrence was used by QTG to travel from Kayrif to Draxius. They arrived a few days before the southern hemisphere winter solstice, which is celebrated in Arnomore as Odin's Day. In the city of Arnomore they bought bridge rings from a watchmaker called Trimibax Alroy, who speaks Greek and Latin. They crossed the mountains out of Arnomore by balloon. On Kayrif, the conjunction takes place in the southern hemisphere on a small, flat-topped island in a swamp ten kilometers south-east of a town called Vichay, where QTG met Enheduanna Mintu-Alali, the Divine Emissary, and Adrian Hatch, swordsman of Ayudrarethrex. It was early autumn in the southern hemisphere of Kayrif at the time of the 08-DEC-2480 occurrence.


Occurs every four years synchronously with CSFS3 in the Yaldan Desert of Feras. It connects Feras to Warwick on Vagor. The CSFS3 conjunction is two hundred kilometers to the west. The 17-MAY-2479 occurance was used by QTG to reach Warwick in the Marble adventure.


The Fyloxenos to Makrinos conjunction occurs every 189 days. The site of the conjunciton is paved in large granite slabs, laid down by the city of Gebong in its heyday. For map of FXMS1 and nearby CSMS1, see here. The conjunction sees little traffic, excepting when it coincides with CSMS1, when it provides route between Clarus and Fyloxenos. Often this route can be travelled both ways, because CSMS1 is long-lived. The conjunction sees most use when it coincides with both CSMS1 and HAFX6 between Heima and Fyloxenos. One such coincidence occurrs in February 2083. Here is a route from CSMS1 on Clarus to HAFX6 on Heima using all three conjunctions, starting out Gregorian date 2483:FEB:20, assuming 40 km/day.

It is only 50 km across Heima from FXMS1 to HAFX6, but the direct journey over a mountain range is difficult at best, and dangerous in winter. The longer journey around the mountains takes six or seven days.


Occurs every two years between Gracia and Polaris. On Gracia, the conjunction is on a large island just south of the equator. A journey of 300 km NW over land, followed by 50 km NW by sea, brings the traveler to CSGA1, which leads to Jamchelk on Clarus. The 26-JAN-2481 occurance featured in QTG's interplanetary travels as one way to get from Polaris back to Clarus.


Occurs every twenty-two months between Kayrif and Polaris. On Polaris, the conjunction takes place in a sandy desert crossed twice a year by nomatic tribesmen, once in mid-spring and once in late autumn. If the conjunction occurs at one of these times, it will be surrounded by hundreds of fighting men intent upon robbing any travelers passing through the conjunction. For some reason, these nomads to not pass through the conjunction themselves, even though the country on the other side is far more hospitable than the desert. The 10-AUG-2480 occurance, which was in late autumn, was used by QTG to pass from Polaris to Kayrif. The civilized citizens of Tranquil, 1000 km to the East, refer to this desert as the Wild Desert, and the arid land immediatly north of the desert is the Plains of the Dead, named after the tombstone-like termite mounds that cover the landscape on the plain, all aligned north-south as if layed down to mark the demise of a vast army of giants. The Karif side of the conjunction is in the southern hemisphere. The 10-AUG-2480 occurance was in early summer for the southern hemisphere. The conjunction is rarely used, but is set on a hill in forested land full of game, with rivers full of fish. The nearest sapien town is Trapus, 200 km to the north-east.


Joins Olympia and Tanilus every seven months. This conjunction is synchronous with CSTS1, and so provides a synchronous two-link from Olympia to Clarus. On Tanilus, the conjunction occurs a few kilometers from CSTS1. On Olympia, the conjunction takes place in the northern hemisphere.


Joins XV with itself, across a distance of only 10.8 km. There are thirty-one single-planet conjunctions out of a total of 1163 conjunctions listed in the Almanac. Of these, XVXV1 operates over the shortest distance. The seven shortest are: XVXV1 10.8 km, XTXT4 18.7 km, XVXV2 31.7 km, XMXM1 37.0 km, YHYH1 69.5 km, XFXF1 73.1 km, and WEWE1 127.7 km. The first and third are both on XV, a remote planet with a meaon wind of slightly above average strength.
